Biography

Professionally, since 1979 Dr. Celinski has been working as a rehabilitation psychologist and a provider of neuropsychological services in the Province of Ontario (Registration Number 1276) both in private practice focusing on rehabilitation and assessment of head injuries and as a Consultant to the Head Injury Programme, and the Psychotraumatic and Pain Programme at the Downsview Rehabilitation Centre (WCB) and in the years preceding its closure (in 1998) he was a senior psychologist. He remained a part-time head-injury/rehabilitation consultant with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board until the end of October 2009. Currently, he continues with his private practice. He is affiliated with the Ontario, Canadian and American Psychological Associations, with the Canadian Register of Health Services Providers in Psychology and with the Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment. He is also a member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and International Neuropsychological Society.

Research Area

Marek J. Celinski' s, Phd. C. Psych. research interests focus on the human nature and philosophy of life as the basis for coping with traumas and life adversities, specifically with respect to utilization of his Challenge -Resilience -Resourcefulness Model (which is an extension of Antonovsky's a sense of coherence), as the way to engage with life issues. He has presented at national and international conferences, and published more than 50 papers and book chapters on the subjects of clinical psychology, rehabilitation, neuropsychology and hypnosis. Currently, five clinical and rehabilitation tests which he co-authored or developed alone have already been published: Rehabilitation Survey of Problems and Coping (Multi-Health System of Toronto); Resourcefulness for Recovery Inventory - Research Edition; Resilience to Trauma Scale – Research Edition; Psychoassistant / Concentration and Remote Memory Test - Research Edition; and Social Intelligence Test – R (all published by Cognisyst of Durham, N.C.). Furthermore, he is the co-editor of a four book series on Resilience and Resourcefulness published by Nova Science Publishers of New York and also edited two books focusing on the relationships between civilizations and the social environment as promoting sustainable social evolution and renewal after crisis.
