Biography
Born on 7 may 1927 in Jerusalem, Palestine. Married to Judith Buber Agassi with two children (daughter deceased; son). Jewish theological school; Parachute instructor, Israeli Army; M.Sc. in Physics, 1951, Hebrew University of Jerusalem; Ph.D. in Science: Logic and Scientific Method, 1956, University of London, London School of Economics. Professor of Philosophy, Boston University, 1965-1983; Tel-Aviv University, Tel-Aviv, 1971-1996; York University, Toronto, 1982-1997. Professor emeritus, Tel-Aviv University and York University, Toronto.
Research Area
For over fifty years, studied the rationality of science, of metaphysics, of democratic politics and of education. Well over 600 contributions to the learned press; authored or co-authored over 20 books and edited or co-edited over 10 books. Published in diverse fields: anthropology, cognitive science, computer science, diagnostics, economics, education, genetics historiography of science, history of science, Jewish studies, linguistics, philosophy, physics, politics, psychiatry, psychology, religion, sociology, sociology of science.
